Data privacy

Data privacy statement
We are delighted by your interest in our website. Protecting your privacy is very important to us. The following contains comprehensive information on the use of your personal data.

Storage of access data in server log files
You may visit our websites without providing any personal information. We shall only store access data in so-called log files, including the name of the requested file, the date and time of access, the quantity of data transferred and the requesting provider. This data will be analysed exclusively to ensure the error-free operation of this website, and to improve our offer; it shall not allow us to draw any conclusions about your person.

The collection and use of data for the purposes of contract conclusion and opening a customer account
We shall collect your personal information, should you voluntarily provide it in the course of placing your order, e.g. when contacting us by submitting a contact form or sending an email, or when opening a customer account. The respective forms indicate which information is collected. We use the data received to process and conclude contracts, and to deal with your enquiries. After the contract has been concluded or your account has been deleted, your data will be blocked from further use and deleted after the statutory fiscal and commercial retention periods have elapsed, unless you have issued your expressed consent to the further use of your data, or if we reserve the right to use the data for other purposes in line with statutory legislation, and regarding which we will inform you of in the following. The deletion of your customer account is possible at any time, and can be executed either by sending a message to the point of contact listed below, or by using the designated function in your customer account.

Data transfer for the fulfilment of contract
In order to fulfil the contract, we shall forward your data to the shipping company tasked with the delivery, insofar as this is required for the delivery of the goods you have ordered. Depending on which payment service provider you have selected in the order process, we shall forward the collected payment data to the financial institution (and potentially the payment service provider commissioned by us or the selected payment service) in order that the payment may be processed. The selected payment service providers will, in part, also collect this data themselves, provided that you create an account with them. In this case, you will be required to log in to the payment service provider using your access data during the order process. In this regard, the data privacy policy of the payment service provider shall apply.

Data usage when registering for the email newsletter
When subscribing to our newsletter, we shall use the data required (or otherwise provided by you), in order to send you our email newsletter on a regular basis, and in accordance with your consent. Unsubscribing from the newsletter is possible at any time, and can be done by either sending a message to the contact option provided below, or by clicking on the dedicated link in the newsletter.

Data usage for postal advertising, and your right of refusal
We furthermore reserve the right to store in summarised format your first and last names, your postal address and – if we have received such additional information from you in the course of the contractual relationship – your title, your academic qualification, your year of birth and your professional, industry or business categorisation, and to use this information for our own advertising purposes, e.g. for sending offers and information about our products by post, that may be of interest to you. You may object to the storage and use of your data for the purposes described here at any time, by sending a message to the contact option listed below.

Use of cookies
We use so-called “cookies” on various pages of our website to make your visit more enjoyable, and to allow the use of certain functions. These are small text files that are stored on your device. Some of the cookies used by us are deleted at the end of your browser session, i.e. after you have closed your browser (these are so-called “session cookies”). Other cookies will remain on your device and allow us to identify your browser upon your next visit (known as “persistent cookies”). It is possible to set your browser so that you will be informed about the use of cookies, at which point you may decide on a case-by-case basis whether to accept or exclude such cookies in certain instances or in general. Failure to accept cookies may limit the functionality of our website.

Use of Google (Universal) Analytics for the purpose of web analysis
This website uses Google (Universal) Analytics, a web service provided by Google Inc. (www.google.de). Google (Universal) Analytics uses methods that allow you to analyse the use of a website, for example with so-called “cookies”, text files which are stored on your computer. The information generated about your use of this website is normally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. By activating IP anonymisation on this website, the IP address is truncated prior to it being transmitted when within a member state of the European Union, or in another contracting state to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional circumstances will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. The anonymised IP address from your browser, which is transmitted by Google Analytics, shall not be merged with other data used by Google.

You may prevent the collection of data (including your IP address) by Google, which is generated by the cookie and which relates to your use of the website, as well as any processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de
As an alternative to the browser plug-in, you can click on  this link  to prevent Google Analytics from capturing data on this website in future. An opt-out cookie is stored on your device in the process. If you delete your cookies, you must click on the link again.

Use of social media plugins from Facebook, Google using the Shariff solution
Our website uses social media plugins ("plugins") provided by social networks. In order to increase the level of protection afforded to your data during your visit to our website, the plugins are not unrestricted, but rather are only integrated into the site via an HTML link (a so-called “Shariff Solution” from  c‘t). This integration ensures that when accessing a website belonging to our web presence, which also contains such plugins, no connection is established with the servers of the respective social media network provider. By clicking on one of the buttons, a new browser window will appear in which the website of the respective service provider is opened, allowing you to, e.g. click on the “Like” or “Share” button (potentially after entering your login credentials). For more information on the purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of the data by the providers, as well as your rights in this regard and the options available for the protection of your private sphere, please consult the data privacy provisions of the providers.
