In our agate water grinding mill at the Fischbach in Asbacherhütte, we have been working on and with the gemstones unchanged according to old tradition for four generations. For me, each stone is unique, has its own "inner life", which we get out of it with time-honored techniques - cutting, shaping, grinding and polishing - and give it its polish and shine. In many stones, for example, I see a figure, a face, or a landscape form. All of this makes the activity so special and unique to me, and makes gemstone work an artisan craft.

I love and enjoy the nostalgia of our centuries-old cutting loop and the idyll of our region around Asbacherhütte. When I hike up the Asbacher Höhe directly behind our cutting shop early in the morning with my wife and enjoy the view of the panoramic Hunsrück landscape from there, or hike along the section of the Saar-Hunsrück Climb on the Mörschieder Burr, I always realize what a magnificent landscape we are at home in.
