I have been the operations manager at the copper mine (KBW) in Fischbach - my home village - since 2011. The fact that I am allowed to work where I grew up is both a responsibility and a blessing.
I truly cannot imagine a more beautiful place than the copper mine as a workplace and favorite place. With the best team I could wish for, we can show "our" mine, "our" heritage, "our" history to guests from all over the world and make it understandable. In this way, we can carry a piece of Fischbach, a piece of local history, a piece of the Nahe Valley, a piece of "us" out into the world. No matter if history, mining, geology, religion, metallurgy, social history, mysticism - about each there is a story to tell in our copper mine.
With KBW we have a place that could not be created artificially with its incredible atmosphere. All the more we try to use this place for extraordinary things: Concerts, theater, markets, church services, tastings, birthday parties - all underground.
The copper mine in Fischbach is also a place that is quite typical of the Nahe region: often a little rough, rugged and edgy, yet honest, beautiful, colorful and very endearing.
As a Fischbacher, I am a "brook child", so I like the Fischbach and the Nahe in EdelSteinLand best of all. As a Fischbacher, you are of course lucky that the Fischbach and the Nahe unite here. Just sitting outside by the stream and doing nothing, that's what I like.
