Sibylle Delzeit - from pragmatism to real passion

When my father said to me 40 years ago, "You can either go to work in an office or learn to be a goldsmith," and I chose goldsmithing, I never thought that this pragmatic decision would become the vocation of my life. However, it was only after 11 years of production in a jewelry factory that I decided to attend the then local technical school for jewelry and gemstone design and take my master's examination. There the world of gemstones and the universe of jewelry design opened up to me.

A lot of time has passed since then and I am still fascinated by the diversity of this profession. Unlimited creativity, demanding craftsmanship, exciting customer contact, purchasing and sales, marketing ...

The most beautiful thing, however, is when happy and satisfied customers come face to face with me and share their enthusiasm for a very special piece of jewelry.

The continuation of the traditional craft is very close to my heart and for this reason I am involved in the "Open Workshops" and also in the Gemstone Cutters and Goldsmiths Market. These events are enormously important for our industry and also for our beautiful city.

In keeping with the theme of "stones," one of my favorite destinations is the Kubach Wilmsen Foundation in Bad-Münster. Imposing sculptures made of marble and granite are spread across beautifully landscaped grounds that invite you to take an entertaining stroll. The tour through the traditional building with Japanese architecture, always puts me in a meditative mood. Embedded in a fantastic landscape with a view of the Rothenfels and the Ebernburg, this place is really worth seeing.

For me, one of the most mystical places in EdelSteinLand is the Hexentanzplatz (witches' dancing place) in the immediate vicinity of Wildenburg Castle. According to legend, the witches met there on Walpurgis Night to dance wildly around the fire. From there, you can enjoy many hiking trails, great views and pure nature on a part of the Celtic rampart, the so-called Mörschieder Burr. For me, that is the very essence of "home".
