Winfried Walg - tour guide in Herrstein

As a tour guide in Herrstein, I take great pleasure in walking with visitors through the historic town center and showing them well-known and little-known places, telling stories from the Middle Ages and especially about the notorious bandit chief Schinderhannes, who was also once imprisoned in Herrstein - in the Schinderhannes Tower.

I am particularly fond of the castle church in Herrstein. Listening to a concert on the old STUMM organ inside it is always a wonderful experience. I also like to sit on the bench at the old cemetery and enjoy the wonderful view of the Fischbach valley. Here I can wonderfully ponder about Schinderhannes and his life in the medieval Hunsrück. On warm summer nights, you can even watch bats buzzing around the church tower from there. To end the day in this peaceful place with a glass of Nahe wine or a Kirner "Stubbi" (beer brewed in Kirn) is always a very special moment for me.

I like to be out and about in the nature of the EdelSteinLand very often. I can recommend everyone to walk along the "Middle Ages Trail" in the morning, to admire the vastness of the Hunsrück landscape and the diversity of flora and fauna of our homeland.
