Adventure Region Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park

The cross-border Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park along with the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park stretches over a surface area of 2,055 km² in the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg, and is predominantly characterised by its diverse natural and cultural landscape.

Ridges up to 816 metres in height can be found in Hunsrück, along with sunny vineyards along the Moselle, Saar, Ruwer and Nahe rivers: During the course of the earth’s history, nature has forged incredible rock formations, deep cutting and wildly romantic river valleys, and picturesque landscapes with fragrant forests and blossoming meadows, mystical moors and fascinating views. Nature fans will delight in the diverse flora and fauna, including stunningly colourful narcissus, arnica and orchid meadows, orchards and mysterious forest mire.

Enjoying nature and culture in combination with seasonal delicacies is the idea behind the “Schnäägische” Nature Weeks. Restaurateurs, producers and direct marketers of products taken from the Nature Park offer their regional speciality weeks, dishes, and services such as culinary events, tours of the town, adventure offers and fun-day seminars. “Grandmother’s regional cuisine”, dandelion days, wild garlic, herbs, apple, apple wine and mushroom weeks as well as potato days, game week and the Saar-Hunsrück fish festival offer a varied programme of experience and enjoyment to suit every taste.

Fancy some more? The Nature Park offers a nature and cultural event programme for adults, children and families that is run throughout the year. Under the motto of “Nature: here and now”, it offers school classes as well as children's and youth groups exciting activity programmes that can be booked for all seasons. The seasonal event programmes “Exploring, discovering and tasting the treasures of our homeland” give locals and visitors alike an overview of the many and varied offers available, and invite you to discover the Nature Park from a whole new angle.
