Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park

Mysterious, magical, imposing – welcome to the primeval forest of tomorrow, because here nature can be wild and free! Even today, the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) classifies Hunsrück with its long stretches of forests as a “regional hotspot for biodiversity".  For example, this place is home to the greatest number of wildcats in Europe.

Explore the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park – spanning more than 10,000 hectares – in the midst of its fascinating adventure region in the Nature Park Saar-Hunsrück. Discover ancient beech forests full of living deadwood, unique wetlands, stunning views, outstanding rockface formations, bizarre rock banks, mystical and bleak moors, bright arnica meadows and reclusive wildcats.
